Kerry Washington’s hairstyles will make for a Scandal worth watching

Tonight’s a big night for Kerry Washington…even though she’s had many special evenings in her life. What’s the deal? She’s making her TV premiere in the premiere of ABC’s Scandal. The accomplished actress is known for her roles as Ray Charles’s wife in the film Ray, as Idi Amin’s wife in The Last King of Scotland, and as Alicia Masters, love interest of Ben Grimm, The Thing, in the live-action Fantastic Four films. She has also starred in the critically acclaimed independent films Our Song and The Dead Girl.

NKerry Washington at Hollywood Life Magazine’s ...ow in her first TV series, Ms. Washington plays Olivia Pope, an expert fixer for the rich, famous and powerful. Perez Hilton has a clip of Scandal on his site, and he describes it as “a show revolving around a combination of the relationship drama and love troubles, set in the fast-paced world of high-level crisis management.”

No matter how good or bad the story is, we know the movie/TV star will wear some great hairstyles. When she’s at work, Kerry’s Olivia will stick with a smooth, executive look. If she ever gets a chance to relax, we hope to see the luscious curls that Ms. Washington has worn in movies and real life.

‘For Colored Girls’: poor movie, rich style

For Colored Girls” isn’t getting good reviews, but you have to give Tyler Perry credit for taking on a movie adaptation of the acclaimed play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. Many in show biz never thought the drama would be made into a film. If nothing else, Perry has renewed interest in Ntozake Shange’s choreopoem that inspired women from all walks of life in the ’70s.

The flaws in Perry’s movie do not diminish the beautiful performances of all-star actresses: Loretta Devine, Thandie Newton, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, Anika Noni Rose, Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad and Macy Gray. And you don’t have to like the movie to love the fashions. The hairstyles are pretty yet natural, reflecting the diversity of real women–trendy, traditional, polished, sexy, exotic and more–like the colors of a rainbow.
