Just Go With It, get a haircut!
Right before the premiere of this Adam Sandler movie, Jennifer Aniston shocked her fans by cutting her long hair into a lob (a long bob). Right after the premiere, castmate Brooklyn Decker did like Jen, but chopped 10 inches off her mane! While Jen’s look hasn’t changed much, Brook looks like a different woman in her longish-bob. This was a smart move for the blonde who’s trying to go from supermodel to actress. The makeover fits her career goals because the new do is conservative and easily styled to suit a businesswoman.
It’s going to take more than a haircut to go from model to actress
Though she might not have gotten as much publicity as Jen, Brooklyn got plenty of attention from gossip tabloids and celeb mags. Ms. Decker loves the new do for the same reasons she hates the trailer of her first film, Just Go With It. The preview aired over and over during the Super Bowl, drawing more interest to the babe in a bikini than the halftime show’s received in years! Later she told Conan O’Brien she was disappointed in Sony who didn’t live up to their promise to showcase her acting potential rather than her past as a cover girl on Sports Illustrated’s infamous Swimsuit Issue.
Brooklyn Decker’s Drastic Haicut: Likes or Yikes?
This was the question posed by ivillage.com. after Brooklyn posted the do-over on Twitter. Female fans have cried out, “Why’d she do it?” and guys wondered the same thing! Experience tells us that girls and women who like to follow styles of the stars prefer very long hair, usually full curls, windblown waves, but also straight and sleek … basically anything long and sexy!
Ask any guy what he thinks about the new do. If he even cares to talk about hair, he’ll probably say something like, “She’d look good in anything”! We take this to mean she can wear any hairstyle–one of those stars we hate because they’re beautiful…no matter how they wear their hair (think Demi Moore
, Agyness Deyn
, Janet Jackson
, Emma Watson
, Michelle Williams, Carey Mulligan
, Hayden Panettiere
). Those who don’t like the shorter style have to admit that it’s easier to maintain. It’s long enough not to need a trim every four to six weeks. And it looks great naturally (if cut by a talented stylist).

These shorter hair pix are easier to do than you might think, but the sleek style takes more time and effort: blowdry with a large round brush, working with small sections at a time. The second view of the new tresses is pretty natural. Simply blow dry bangs forward and everything else back. Roll ends under, over or both, and you’re ready to rumble! And don’t worry about being pretty, shorter hair flatters almost anyone!Sources: FlynetPictures.com, Getty Images, ivillage.com, Brooklyn Decker, dailymail.co.uk

Any Country Music event draws big names and beautiful manes… the CMT Music Awards was no exception. We’ve picked our faves (and a couple of unfaves) to show you the hair fashions that ruled the runway.
Taylor Swift straightened her hair!
This was big news at the CMT Music Awards because fans are used to seeing Taylor Swift in her wavy curls. You can imagine the time it took to first blow dry her hair smooth and then making it even smoother with a straightening iron. Next to Taylor, Julianne Hough plays it straight using the same kind of techniques as Taylor. Unless you’re used to it the straight-as-a-ruler look can be too time-consuming to wear every day. In that case, simply do a quick blow-dry with a tight-bristled brush. Work with small sections of hair if you can spare the time.
More straight styles
It was refreshing to see so much straight hair along with the standard Country Music curls. It’s also unusual to see straight on short to mid-length haircuts. Martina McBride goes in between long and short with ends of hair resting on the shoulders and a little below. The do has the feel of a shag but it doesn’t have heavy layers to call it that and it’s more polished than most shags. The blunt side bangs, angled fringe and kicky ends create special interests. Meanwhile Steel Magnolia’s Meghan Linsey takes the shortest short cut shown here. We’re loving the textured bob in white-hot blond. If your hair has a little body and good layering, styling is easy. Just lift and roll the top while blow-drying and tousle the ends. Anywhere you want more curl, use a styling iron or Velcro® rollers. In the music category, Carrie Underwood was a big winner with the CMT Video of the Year and Performance of the Year awards. Like Taylor, the American Idol chose the unexpected: straight instead of curly. On the Red Carpet, her straight locks were worn sleek and back. On stage, Carrie let her hair down and messed it up. Compared with the other long straight styles, Carrie’s down do is fairly quick and easy: simply blow dry with a big round brush. The rest can be dried upside down using your fingers to scrunch up the straightness. If you want to calm it down in spots, do a quick turn with the curling iron held vertically.
A gr8 way to go curly!
Erin Andrews was one of the many celebs who took the safe route: curls. The ESPN sports analyst mixed it up with a smooth top and large ringlets below. Again it comes down to the time and effort you’re willing to spend to get a close copy of Erin’s hairstyle. Her curly locks have been blown-dry smooth on and near the crown. The rest has been finger curled while drying with a diffuser. Unless a blow-drier can dress up the curls, it would need to be followed with curling-iron styling done vertically.
These two words sum up the normal state of hair-affairs for LeAnn Rimes and Snooki (more so for her). Leann could look pretty in bangs and unkempt straight locks. For some reason, her Cheating Heart coif never looks very good. (In all fairness to LeAnn a closeup shot is pretty flattering but we’re withholding that for now). And what can we say about Snooki’s exaggerated beehive? Ridiculous, cartoonish, downright ugly? We won’t EVEN deign to tell you how to do their dos!
Ending on a high note
We can’t leave you with that, so we’ll close with Sheryl Crow’s loose back-do, Sarah Buxton’s wavy mid-length, Hayden Panettiere’s short update and Laura Bell Bundy’s look of love! What more can we say?

It was news heard all around the world (of planet Hollywood)–Hayden Panettierie chopped off her hair!
Wearing a LBD, the young star revealed the mini haircut at an Earth Day gala Thursday. Most everyone was shocked, but didn’t pass judgement. But a few writers decided Ms. Panettierie had gone too far…as if it were their hair! “What in the Sam Hell did Hayden do to her hair?!” one source asked, while another blogger ruled that Hayden is sabotaging her hair…. Those are strong words for a young actress who’s simply following her heart…regardless of popular opinion. That individuality is what makes Hayden our style Hero.
We HAVE to ask, “What’s not to love about the new look? It’s as easy as stepping in the shower AND she’s still gorgeous!” While critics badmouth her, the star is enjoying the sophistication she wanted…to get away from the “cute” label she’s had since 2006 (when she literally fell into fame as cheerleader Claire on Heroes). Actually this has been coming for a while. Her star hairstyle has changed countless times from then to now, getting more and more attention each time.
One celeb stylist claimed, “Most women can wear this look.” We beg to differ!
So little hair puts your face on display, magnifying every little detail. If you think your face is too wide, too wrinkled, too whatever, it’s’ not for you. Without makeup or styling, the star style might be too boyish for you! The same hairdresser insists that short hair is sexy, and we agree. Nothing beats the flirty confidence of short shorts.
Final thoughts: “You go, girl. Keep standing up for yourself on the slippery slopes of Hollywood.”
