Charlize Theron finally reveals her shaved head and gears up for ‘Mad Max’!

For half the month of June, Charlize covered up her hairless head whenever she went out in public i.e. whenever the paparazzi might have a shot of catching up with her!

You’d have to be living on another planet not to know that Charlize Theron shaved her head. Or, then again, you might not care about celeb style news, but in that case you wouldn’t be reading this. Anyone who IS interested has noticed that Char has been wearing hats (fedora or beanie) ever since she had her hair shaved off on June 6.

We first saw the new ‘do on June 24 when she was photographed without a hat and with her adorable son Jackson. They were snapped in Namibia, Africa where she was gearing up for filming of Mad Max: Thunder Road (the reason she sheared her lockx in the first place!). Even though the candid pic is fuzzy as all get-out, you can tell she’s still gorgeous, proving what we knew all along–she’s one of the few elite who don’t need hair to be beautiful!!! We don’t have to tell you who the others are, but we will: Natalie Portman, Agyness Deyn, Janet Jackson, Demi Moore and Anne Hathaway. Other hairless celebs (who look only OK in buzz cuts) are Natalie Maines and Cynthia Nixon.

After she shaved her medium-length mane, we wondered what took her so long. The barely-there hair would have been perfect for futuristic Prometheus. Or she could have worn her hair slicked back for Mad Max as she did to play an Ice Queen in the first sci-fi. (Perhaps the frigid look was too pretty for the down-and-dirty Max movie.) Or she could have shaved her hair earlier for Prom. A less-daring, less-dedicated actress could have worn a bald wig that could be made totally realistic with today’s fabulous fakes and creative hairstylists.

Here’s what we think: the Oscar winner wouldn’t want to look the same as she did in her last movie. We know from her complete transformation in Monster that she is willing to go to all the way to becoming a new woman for a role.

What’s next for Charlize? When will she start growing out her hair? Will it be after Mad Max is a wrap or will she stick with it for a while just for the shock value? Please tell us what you think!

Charlize Theron shaves her head: it’s bold, but is it beautiful? Knowing Charlize, the answer is ‘Yes’!

While everyone else is talking about Charlize shaving her head, we’re thinking, “When will she take off the hat(s) and show us the results?”

Anyone who follows entertainment or style knows that Charlize Theron cut off her hair in the last week. Peoplestylewatch.com reported that the long-haired blonde was photographed walking into a salon on June 6, and hasn’t been seen without a hat since.

On Sunday, Ms. Theron kept the news under wrap, wearing a beanie cap to and from a Pilates class. While the cold-weather topper seems odd for a hot day in L.A., you have to remember that celebrities and celeb wanna-bes wear UGG boots year-round.

On Monday, news of the barely-there haircut broke when Charlize wore a fedora that couldn’t hide her shaved nape. (As opposed to Mom’s hat the day before, a little knit cap seemed absolutely normal, not to mention adorable, on her son Jackson.)

While we’re not surprised that Charlize would make such a bold style move, it DOES seem dramatic when you consider her ultra-feminine look less than two weeks ago at the MTV Movie Awards. Char made a grand entrance in slightly-wavy straight hair and a red-hot dress.

If it were anyone else, you might think this is a publicity stunt to promote Prometheus or build “buzz” around Mad Max 4: Fury Road, which hasn’t even started filming! Jaded fans might argue that Charlize is wearing a buzzed-hair wig under those hats. It’s safe to say Ms. Theron is following in the footsteps of actresses Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Demi Moore, Cynthia Nixon, etc. who have shaved their heads for a role.

Only time will tell if this transformation will have a big payoff like the Oscar she won for Monster. Only a short time (hours, days, a week) will tell the details of the latest daring ‘do in the Celebrity World!

Heidi Klum’s new do

It’s pretty, fresh, laid back, easy… but not very popular!

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, April 21Heidi Klum (Seal Samuel) debuted a new, shorter hairstyle… a mid-length (not short) bob with light layering, bangs, darker blond lowlights and an angled fringe around the face. The design has built-in movement, versatility, sex appeal and class… kind of like a “newscaster look” and perfect for women who have straight hair.

Everyone’s a critic… especially when it comes to star style!
Some celeb/beauty “experts” would have you think that Heidi buzzed her hair (à la Sinead O’ConnorDemi Moore in G.I. Jane, Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta and most recently Brit model Agyness Deyn). Much of the feedback on blogs has been negative, especially with younger women. The naysayers seem to think that cover girls should never look old, different or like a mom (Heidi has four children under the age of 6!).

More comments
Is the look mom-ish… the hair equivalent of mom jeans? (Is that a bad thing now when there ARE sexy mom jeans?)
It ages Heidi, and you know I have mixed feelings about bangs. (FYI: bangs and shorter hair are very youthful and flattering for females of any age.)
While Heidi looks gorgeous no matter what, we’re not sure how we feel about the cut itself… something about it (the way the bangs curl under?) reminds us of Florence Henderson.” Is this writer referring to Florence Henderson in the late 1960s’ Brady Bunch? Excuuuuuse us, but we don’t see the resemblance.
Before the do-over
A month before the cut, Ms. Seal wore her hair well below the shoulders. Now look closely at the pic (right). Anyone with a good eye for hairstyles will see scraggly ends, a messy fringe and drab hair color. Is this suitable for a supermodel/business woman/working mother? The host of Project Runway explained to Jay her reasoning behind the haircut: “I got bored… as we all do every once in a while as girls, so I chopped it off!” She says she loves to change up her hairstyle. “I grow it, I cut it. Some people never change their hair and it works for them.”

Who has the time to do Heidi’s tousled upsweep?
At the Oscars 2010 in February, Heidi wore a Brigitte Bardot updo (known as sex kitten-ish). Sure it’s gorgeous, but can real women copy the coif in less than an hour? You COULD do a bad version in a hurry, but why bother? Even if you’re very talented or have an expert hairstylist, the star hairstyle requires an hour or more! Girls might have more time for tressing up before prom, and women might make the time for a once-a-year gala or holiday party.

Even her “natural” look took time and effort!
In her early days as a runway/cover girl, Heidi had hair and makeup artists at her beck and call. They could easily do the just-got-out-of-bed look: if you attempt it, plan to spend more than 30 minutes on styling. Unless you’re born with hair like this, you would have to blow dry hair smooth on top and wavy below. Also the waves would probably have to be finished with a jumbo-sized curling iron or rollers and heavy-duty hair spray. Again, the ends are in need of a trim or miracle-working conditioner.

That’s all for now except for this: We started out this post thinking that many star hairstyles do not see the light of day (in the real world), but then we remembered Jennifer Aniston’s “Rachel” look from Friends in the late 1990s and Farrah Fawcett’s “wings” from Charlie’s Angels in the 70s… both hit the streets running and outlasted other trends.
