The complementary styles of hot Vocal Groups…
Sometimes in duos and trios, someone gets lost while another steals the spotlight. That’s not the case with Lady Antebellum (right), the Band Perry (below) and Steel Magnolia.
The individuals who make up each group seem born to be together. Like their vocals, the styles blend together beautifully. They are also winners in the real sense of the word. Lady Antebellum (Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley & Dave Haywood) nabbed three ACM awards this spring. The Band Perry (Kimberley Perry with brothers Neil & Reid) was chosen best New Artist of the Year. Steel Magnolia (Meghan Linsey & beau Joshua Scott Jones) soared into the music scene soon after winning the second season of CMT‘s Can You Duet contest for music awards. They’ve received a slew of award nominations … but more impressive is their big fan base which has grown exponentially since 2009.
The hairstyles of the females are unique and individual. The Lady of Lady Antebellum, Hillary shows off her new do … opposite of the old one. Straight hair with bangs have replaced the full curls without bangs she wore before. Kimberly Perry plays up her curls that are normally calm, cool and collected. Scrunching while blow-drying without using a diffuser helps her pump up and break up her curls. Meghan seems to be wearing an upsweep, but it’s really her short hair done up to look that way (admirers know that Miss Magnolia often wears this faux updo).

Meghan Linsey is one of your 10 favorite stars on realhairstyles.net. We suspect that there’s more reasons for her popularity than her ‘dos. There’s her boyfriend Joshua Scott Jones and their vocal duo Steel Magnolia. Their sudden success has earned them a nomination for Best New Duo/Group of the Year by the Academy of Country Music (ACM). Though they were edged out by Band Perry, these Steely singers will perform along with other hot stars at the first ever Fan Jam held in conjunction with the ACM 2011 awards show (this Sunday).
These two dos are very similar but not quite alike. The one on the right gives you an idea how the haircut looks from the side. For high glamour, all of her hair is volumized and then rolled off the face. This twist gives her very short hair the look of an upsweep. The same kind of thinking goes into the solo shot. Little things make the difference: bangs are lifted to one side instead of back and ends are swept up instead of down. A red-hot hair ornament adds color to her form-fitting black gown.
Here’s two other dos that resemble each other, and both are perfect for awards shows or the gala du jour. Personally we think the hair at left is one of the prettiest we’ve seen on Meg or any star for that matter! It’s shorter with more layers and pure white. Finger-brushing while blow-drying creates a fluffy, feathery crop. On the right, Meg’s hair is longer, less layered, and salty and pepper blond. Styling time is pretty similar except for the polished finish created with a round brush and blow-drier while hair’s still slightly damp. If your hair falls flat too soon after styling, use big hot rollers or a curling iron.
Yet another reason for Steel Magnolia’s appeal is its down-to-earth charm. Their friendly personalities shine through when posing with fellow country star Kellie Pickler.
Getting back to the mane thing, you’ve gotta love Meghan’s casually chic, sideswept ponytail and long bangs. Stay tuned for more on Meghan!
